  • Chaos Fighters-Sacricity is Not Commodity (Non-canon guest post)

The sociopolitical effect of the heroic equipment was an interesting study to make. Each weapon caused, as if by osmosis, evil men to covet them, demons to spawn looking for them, and good men to flock to weapons shops and ancient ruins across the country.

One human was known to seek heroic equipment. He was an evil man, but he knew they were holy weapons. He raised up a small army of righteous people and sent them out looking for these weapons. Certainly his evil was an open secret, but his economic incentive was clear: holy weapons were good for business. In addition, when the holy equipment were found, he could point out that he was a force of stability in the region and who gave them their pay at the end of the day, exactly? The power of gold was mighty, and the power of the Gunge lance was only that of blowing entire buildings sky-high and vanquishing demons.

It was possible he hadn’t thought that one through quite as well as he could have, but this could be only in his mind.

    -----

Far and away and over the rainbow, in a land full of mist and legend, or perhaps just mist, there was the Path of Electrum. At the end of it, there was the Electrum Armor, a suit of plate and mail reputed to be entirely immune to every physical attack. This meant it was only vulnerable to telepaths, magic, demonic energies, acts of god, and flooding.

Still, it was pretty good armor all over, and well worth getting, so Alberta took down her trusty walking stick and set off on her quest.

She walked for a while. Then she walked for a while longer. Then she walked a while longer for a while longer, and then she realized she was in an episode of Dragonball Z so she proceeded to glow, power up and generally energize herself.

When she was attacked by the barracuda, Alberta was very happy she’d taken the time to properly do her morning cosmic yelling exercises.

"Now is my chance do the work myself!” Alberta came out from nowhere and stared at the barracuda sharply. A platinum pearl wand attached into a platinum sword blade was seen dropping from a magic circle above him and he caught it easily. The fish, which oddly can breathe without water, ceased attacks on her and dashed towards him.

“!!!!!!” Not able to speak, the barracuda growled, trying to reduce him into fear, but  a red glow was seen on his weapon, aptly named double platinum pearl wand sword, which soon turned into fire that can brighten a dark cave. Just when  he thought that he could just strafe to his right and slash through its mouth,

“What? Argh!” The barracuda suddenly turned 90 degrees and rammed him, repelling his attack. He crashed onto the ground while it flew back 10 meters. A few bruises was seen on his black coat, his face was seen in a bad shape and his jeans were badly ripped. Yet, he still stand up, holding his weapon with a strong grip and it was emitting white glow.

“…….” An octahedral water crystal appeared and it was launched at him. He tried to destroy it by launching a crescent slash wave, but it became worse that the destroyed pieces were still launched at him. Just when both thought that she could not fight anymore,

“Qi blast!” She stood up and fired a purely physical energy blast from her right hand, which caught it off guard and destroyed both the barracuda and the water crystals. Unfortunately, this also made him fainted and fell onto the ground. She decided to walk further inside and the electrum armor was floating midair. Suddenly,

“My warrior, what do you intend to do with this weapon?” An ominous voice came out from nowhere.

“Sell it in shops as per my superior’s order,” She answered the voice honestly. Then, the armor suddenly disappeared and a titanium metal block was dropped onto the ground.

“I cannot allow it to be used for commercial purposes. But since that you passed my test, this is what you deserve. Consider this my comphensation,” The voice disappeared. She carried the metal block while looking Alberta feeling dizzy.

“What? This?” Alberta refused to believe what happened.

“Sorry, but apparently the armor’s guardian was very angry over your plans to sell it,”

“Damn…that metal block is you pay for this task. Let’s go back to our turf and seek other holy equipment!” He walked back while stomping the ground angrily. Evil tends to be fail indeed….
